Slate Tile Cleaning & sealing

Contact us to bring your Slate Tiles back to life | 0411 373 272

Slate is a tile which is rockbase. The best way to maintain slate is to strip and seal them every 5 years. Stripping content applyin stripper to the slate, then using a high powered scrubber to strip the old sealer off. All this process is done without over spray on any off your walls. Its then followed by a good buffer to remove all dust and old particules that are not wanted there on the first place. We then apply to coats of sealer and one coat of polish to make your slate look brand new all over again.

We have been cleaning and sealing slate in Melbourne for the past 10 years. We deliver what we promise so give us a call now for a free sample of your slate, obligation free. We garantee our job and customer will be left happy with there results.

To seal slate tile or not to seal is the question that bothers everyone who is installing slate tiles for the first time. Actually the sealing depends upon the type of slate tile and kind of finish that you want. If you want to have shinning surface on the slate tile then you can seal the slate tile otherwise you can leave the slate tile or strip as it is for a natural look.

grout cleaning

Grout is a type of plaster which fills in the cracks between tiles, keeping them together and preventing damage to the sides of the tiles. With time, grout can get dirty, especially the grout used around kitchen and bathroom tiles which are exposed to food, soaps, and lots of water. It is relatively easy to clean tile grout, especially when it is regularly maintained.

The best way to clean tile grout is to keep it clean: at least once a year, scrub down the grout, dry it thoroughly and apply a commercial grout sealer to keep liquid out. If the grout begins to crack or crumble, it should be replaced. Damage to grout not only looks unsightly: it can reflect damage to the surface underneath the tiles, or can result in damage to the tiles.

Slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. The result is a foliated rock in which the foliation may not correspond to the original sedimentary layering. When expertly “cut” by striking with a specialized tool in the quarry, many slates will form smooth flat sheets of stone which have long been used for roofing and floor tiles and other purposes. Slate is frequently grey in color, especially when seen, en masse, covering roofs. However, slate occurs in a variety of colors even from a single locality; for example, slate from North Wales can be found in many shades of grey, from pale to dark, and may also be purple, green or cyan. Slate is not to be confused with shale, from which it may be formed, or schist. Ninety percent of Europe’s natural slate used for roofing originates from Spain.[1]

The word “slate” is also used for some objects made from slate. It may mean a single roofing slate, or a writing slate, traditionally a small piece of slate, often framed in wood, used with chalk as a notepad or noticeboard etc., and especially for recording charges in pubs and inns. The phrase “clean slate” or “blank slate” comes from this use
