The customer contacted Melbourne Tile Cleaning because several slate tiles had become loose, some areas of the slate were chipping away, and the existing mortar joints had cracked and deteriorated over time.

Our team carefully removed all loose material, re-bonded the loose slate tiles, repaired the chipped areas, and repointed all failed joints. Unlike ceramic tiles, natural slate should be pointed with mortar rather than standard grout due to the wider joints and movement characteristics of the stone.

Once the repairs were completed, we deep cleaned the slate, stripped away old sealers and contaminants, and applied a premium sealer to enhance and protect the natural stone. The floor was then polished to bring out the rich colours and character of the slate.
